WP 3: Revalourisation of landscape through innovative housing models   The intention of the project „Revalorisation of landscape through innovative housing models" is a discussion of sustainable uses of existing housing areas and development of new housing models in industrially transformed cultural landscapes.

It is against this background that a network-oriented management in the field of housing development shall be created in the respective disturbed cultural landscapes and strategic planning approaches for innovative housing models suggested. The project will include both discussions of the restructuring of existing housing estates in industrial landscapes under urban planning and architectural aspects, and presentations of innovations in the field of housing redevelopment and land use.

 

The project „Revalorisation of landscape through innovative housing models" includes two key activity elements:

 

• Activity element: "New life in old industrial housing estates"

 

The project „New life in old industrial housing estates" shall represent action strategies for the refurbishment of industrial housing estates. The central thematic component is the ecological and social revitalisation of the Borsig industrial housing estate in Gliwice. The project „New life in old industrial housing estates" is managed by Politechnika Śląska and the municipality of Zabrze in cooperation with comp. Terma Dom.

 

• Activity element: "Restructuring of housing stock - Space meets density"

 

The project „New life in old industrial housing estates" is complemented and qualified with a second activity element: Knowledge transfer relating to the issue „Restructuring of housing stock - Space meets density". Exemplary analyses will be made of emptying and excessive space in industrial housing areas in Lusatia. Three workshop procedures will be launched to develop, with involvement of Polish, Italian and German experts, strategies for dealing with housing structures.
