REKULA-Excursion to Northern Italy - Region Veneto 2005

As every year, the International Building Exposition (IBA) Fürst-Pückler-Land offers the attendance for interested partners to get impressions of foreign projects and to get in touch with the REKULA partners within the INTERREG IIIb REKULA project. Following the excursion last year to Poland, we are planning to pay a visit and to get some informations about the partners and their region in northern Italy, within the region Veneto.

This year´s topic of this excursion, "Water and Settlements", leads into the geographical basin between the Alps and Venezia. We´ll get informations and impressions about flood water management (i.e. Cava Merotto - a former gravel pit), the canals and rivers in Veneto and, of course, the city within the water itself and its problems - Venezia. Impressing hydrological buildings and plannings for the future top the excursion off.

Including a visit at and with our REKULA-project partners, we will have a short but impressive look into the rooms of the Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche in Treviso. In Venezia we´ll meet with specialists of the Regione del Veneto (getting informations about the lagoon) and in the surrounding landscape of Treviso with representatives of Consorzio di Bonifica Pedemontano Sinistra Piave.

Our cultural program leads to the worldfamous villas and gardens near the Brenta canal. With one visited villa we like to clarify the connection between the culture of venezian villas and the the venezian life style of their erecting time and the link from the building to the water streaming by. A walk through the huddle of canals in histoic Venezia will perhaps end in the discovery of the fine italian food and wine and the specialities of the region, i.e. prosecco and radiccio...

Due to the opening of the Bundesgartenschau (horicultural show) 2005 in Munich we´ll stop there at 2nd september for a guided tour while travelling to italy by coach.
